Lolli has announced a partnership with Chinese global shopping giant, Alibaba whereby Lolli users can earn up to 5% bitcoin back when shopping with Alibaba online.

Yesterday was Singles Day in China, known locally as “Guanggun Jie”, a shopping holiday popular among young Chinese people that celebrates pride in being single, or as Emma Watson recently declared in an interview with British Vogue, “self-partnered.” Whatever you want to call it, the date, November 11th (11/11), was chosen because the number “1” resembles an individual who is alone. The holiday has become the largest offline and online shopping day in the world, with Alibaba shoppers exceeding $31 billion USD in spending during the 2018 celebration.

And now, Alibaba is jumping into the bitcoin arena by helping Lolli users stack sats when shopping thousands of items online! It would seem being single and rich in bitcoin is the real goal here.

In a statement early last week, CEO and Co-founder of Lolli, Alex Adelman, said:

“I’m excited to partner with Alibaba on Singles Day and offer the opportunity to earn bitcoin back to its shoppers. This is a milestone partnership for Lolli as Alibaba is the largest retailer and e-commerce company in the world, launching on Single’s Day, the world’s largest shopping day of the year. Our partnership allows our users to earn free bitcoin on millions of products online every day. Arguably the most important piece of this partnership is that it supports our mission of connecting the entire world through commerce.”

Zooming out, several cash-back crypto startups are gearing up for the Christmas shopping season. There are now several bitcoin retail apps, including competitors like Fold, Pei and SPEDN, targeting customers over the 2019 holiday shopping season, offering more bitcoin options than in previous years.

Hopefully we’ll begin to see more Southern African integrations soon, too.
